Honwave inflatable boats all conform to the technical requirements of the European Recreation Craft Directuve - the "RCD". The numbers of passengers carried in your new Honwave should not exceed the spectifued limit: please see the specifications listed below for how many assengers can be safely carried (shipped?) in each Honwave boat model. All Honwave boat models (except the smallest two models) of the ten Honwave boat models are rated for Catagory "C" use: so these eight Honwave models are all suitable for use on all inland waters, harbours and also for inshore sea use.
Please note that the two smallest models - the Honwave T24-IE3 and T20-SE3 - are only rated for Catagory D use: so therefore these two are only suitable for use in inland waterways and sheltered harbours.
Please note that the "loaded weight" (in kg) of the Honwave boats (see the specifications for each model below) are well in excess of the passenger loading allowed by the RCD regulations. This is because, liike all inflatable boats, the Honwave's have an inherenty large safety factor for their bouyancy.

There are three different floor types offered on the Honwave boats:
 
Honwave Boats with Air Floors (Honwave model code IE) 
These are twin bladders that roll up quickly and easily into the boat. Air-floored Honwave boats are high portable and therfore the boats are most suitable for most leisure applications requiring portability. Honwave model code "IE" 
 
Honwave Boats with Aluminium Panel Floors Honwave (model code AE)
These are large sectional allumium floor panels - carried in a separate bag -  that need to be clipped into the floor of the Honwave boat before use. The aluminium-floored Honwave boats are more durable and rigid  however far less portable than the airfloors. Aluminium floored Honwave boats are most suitable for fishing and workboat applications: where a rigid floor is necessary. Honwave model code "AE".
 
Honwave Boats with Slatted Floors (Honwave model code SE)
Now only found on the two smallest models in the Honwave inflatable boat range: these slatted floors are "thin planks" positioned across the boat, that roll-up with the soft floor. Slatted floors are highly portable: however nowdays these models are frequently supersceded  by the improved Honwave air-floor designs (see above). Honwave model code "SE".
 
Pleae note that these floors are "fixed" for each model of the Honwave the boat type - and therefore the floors are not interchangeable between different Honwave boat models.

As they say in those long-running beer adverts, the Honwave T27- IE2 is "probably" the most popular model in the current Honwave fleet of inflatable boats.Indeed the 2.7m long inflatable boats are the most popular size - with all boaters and across all of the different inflatable boat manufacturers.
The Honwave T27 - IE3 is so popular simply because it is a good combination of  size, being ideal as a family sized boat:, and also, wighting in at 34kg, it is easy to carry by one or two persons. The Honwave T27-IE3 it is therefore ideal as either a tender stowed on boat a bigger yacht or motorcruiser: or alternatively as a portable boat easily carried in the car, caravan and motorhome.
 
The Honwave T27- IE 3 boat technical specification is as follows:

• Passenger Capacity (maximum) = 3 adults and one child
• Loaded Weight (maxmium in kg) = 664 kg
• Length (metres) = 2.67m
• Beam (width: metres) = 1.53m
• Weight (net: boat empty: kg) = 34 kg
• Maximum Engine Power (hp) = 8hp
• Box (packing) size = 112 x 65 x 38 cm

 
Please note that, whilst the Honwave T27-IE3 boat is rated as a boat safe to use with an 8hp outboard engine, we would however recommend pairing it with the Honda 6hp outboard engine to this 2.7m long boat.

The 6hp outboard engine is a better match to the T27-IE3 for two reasons. Firstly because the 6hp engine is far more portable than the much heavier 8hp engine - and that extra 15kg of weight of the 8hp engine makes a big difference when you are carrying it (please see our Honda engine specifications for full details of these weights). Secondly, if truth be told, the "extra 2hp" power of the 8hp engine produces very little extra / better performance on this Honwave T27 boat.  Therefore the 6hp Honda outboard engine is recommended by us -  this being a clear case of smaler, lighter and nimbler being better (as a bloke called David once said to Goliath...)

Finally, and relevant to all true-born Yorkshiremen (and indeed true-bred Yorkshire women) is the simple fact that the 6hp Honda outboard engine is much better value for money: i.e. there is a substantial difference between the pricing of the Honda 6hp engine and the larger Honda 8hp outboard engine (see engine pricing for full details). Thus buying a Honda 6hp engine for the transom of the Hionwave T27-IE3 leaves you more  brass in pocket......

By way of an introduction -  the Honwave T38- IE32 is "probably" the second most popular model in the current Honwave range of inflatable boats.The Honwave T38 - IE3 is so popular because it is a good combination of  a big-sized family boat that will perform at speed. It is ideal as a family-sized performance boat because it can take a powerful 20hp engine. However at a carrying weight of 48kg, this Honwave T38 boat can still be carried in its bag by two persons. Also it will (just) fit into a car or 4x4 with the rear seats folded down.
 
Thus the air-floored Honwave T38-IE3 boat is thus one of the largest boats that is still capable of being accurately defined as having "maximum portability". The air floor means that it is quick and easy to unroll and inflate. When matched with a 20hp engine, the Honwave T38-IE3 with its V-shaped air- floor is therefore ideal as as a high -performance portable family sports boat  With just a few people on board, the T38 will tow a inflatable toy at speed (note: towing eyes and ropes are required as  optional accessories: as indeed , before we forget, is the inflatable toy itself....). The Honwave T38 is a highly-portable inflatable boat, one which is capable of being moved around the UK or Europe in the car, caravan and motorhome.
 
The Honwave T38 - IE3 inflatable boat technical specification is as follows:

• Passenger Capacity (maximum) =  5 adults and one child
• Loaded Weight (maxmium in kg) = 950 kg
• Length (metres) = 3.76 m
• Beam (width: metres) = 1.7m
• Weight (net: boat empty: kg) = 48 kg
• Maximum Engine Power (hp) = 25 hp (see note)
• Box (packing) size = 122 x 72 x 43 cm

 
Please note that, whilst the Honwave T38-IE3 boat is rated as a inflatable boat which is safe to use with an 25hp outboard engine -however this size of engine is not recommended by us here in Yorkshire. We would however strongly recommend pairing the Honda 20hp outboard engine to this particular Honwave T38 (3.8m) long inflatable boat. The Honda 20 hp outboard engine is a much better match to the Honwave T38-IE3 boat for two key reasons. Firstly it is because the Honda 20hp engine is far more portable than the much-heavier 25 or 30hp outboard engines. We shall explain: yes- adding that extra horsepower will give you more power - BUT (and it is a big but...) - typically it will add about 30kg of weight to the all-up weight of the outboard engine. Thus the extra engine weight of any 25hp or 30hp engine is called one thing - "lardiness" . This extra weight of any big engine will make a very big difference when you are trying to carry it - if indeed you are even able to carry any modern 25hp engine.....
 
Frankly any engine heavier  than 50kg is not defined by us as portable: and accordingly you need to note that all of the different manufacturer's 25hp and 30hp outboard engines are well over this "recommended portable engine weight"  Secondly, and if truth be told, the "extra 5hp" power of the 25hp engine will in reality produce very little extra (if any) performance on this Honwave T38 boat. This is for the simple reason the extra weight weights down the back of the boat.  Therefore the 20hp Honda outboard engine (BF20 model)  is recommended by us for powering the Honwave T38 infltable boat. This is a clear case of smaller and lighter being far better. Thirdly, is the simple fact is that the 20hp Honda outboard engine is thousands of pounds cheaper to buy than any manufacturer's 25hp or 30hp outboard engine (see our separate outboard engine pricing for full details). Thus buying a Honda 20hp engine for fitting on the transom of your new Honwave T27 - IE2 inflatable boat will leave you more money to spend elsewhere...... The Honwave T30 boat is well-suited to two popular boating applications: the family exploring market (often with dog) and also the smaller fishnng boat, this being suitable fir jsut two persons.
 
The Honwave T30-AE32 boat technical specification is as follows:

• Passenger Capacity (maximum) =  4 adults
• Loaded Weight (maxmium in kg) = 610 kg
• Length (metres) = 2.97 m
• Beam (width: metres) = 1.57 m
• Weight (net: boat empty: kg) = 54 kg
• Maximum Engine Power (hp) = 15hp
• Box (packing) size = 112 x 65 x 38 cm  

 
The Honwave T30-AE3 boat is well-suited to the Honda 15hp outboard engine: i.e. the Honda BF15 model.

By far an away the largest, and therefore heaviest boat in the whole Honwave boat range, the Honwave T40-AE3 model weighs-in at a total of 86kg (note: boat only weight and without the engine), so it needs to be carried by three or four people. having said that: a good choice either for fishing groups and as a small workboat.
 
However, despite the boat's weight, the positive features of the Honwave T40 inflatable boat is one that has a huge internal deck area (note: the internal open deck dimensions are approx. 2.8m by 0.9m wide overall) and also, with the strong aluminium floor panels, this Honwave T40 boat has a huge load-carrying capability.  Therefore, in our humble opinion, the Honwave T40-AE3 model is not really suitable to use as truely-portable family boat, simply because the average user and/or typical family (i.e. two adults with their 2 point 4 kids) will find it simply too large and especiailly too heavy to carry and move about.. The Honwave T40 boat is however well-suited to being either a fishing boat  (note: probably best left permenantly inflated) or as lighter_duty workboat: especially for a group pf adults.
 
The Honwave T40 AE3 boat technical specification is as follows:

• Passenger Capacity (maximum) = 7 adults
• Loaded Weight (maxmium in kg) = 1050 kg
• Length (metres) = 3.95m
• Beam (width: metres) = 1.89 m
• Weight (net: boat empty: kg) = 86 kg
• Maximum Engine Power (hp) = 20hp (Note1)
• Box (packed) size = 129 x 79 x 45 cm

 
Please note that, simply for portability, many of the Honave T40 boats are used with 20hp engines. PLease note that this new model will not take the 30hp engine: hiwever the older models dyd once take a 30hp engine

This Howave T25-SE3 boat is only slightly larger than its smaller sister: the T20-SE3 (please see entry directly above).
 
However the T25-SE3 has the big advantages over the entry level T20-SE3 in that it can carry three adults and also it is rated for inshore use and thirdly it is capable of carrying a 6hp engine (so this all means a faster transit time when heading back from a night out at the pub or taverna)..
 
However - and lets be honest and realistic here - the small size of this Honwave T25-SE3 boat realistically means that the three adult capacity would be described, by an honest estate agent, as "bijou" . Frankly space on board the Honwave T25-SE3 is "tight" (i.e. we think that you all need to be good friends) . Accordingly its size frankly limits the practical uses of the T25-SE3 - however as a small tender it is very useful for very short hops to and from the bigger boat to the shore.
 
The Honwave T25 - SE3 boat technical specification is as follows:

• Passenger Capacity (maximum) =  3 adults
• Loaded Weight (maxmium in kg) = 440kg
• Length (metres) = 2.50m
• Beam (width: metres) = 1.56m
• Weight (net: boat empty: kg) = 440 kg
• Maximum Engine Power (hp) = 6 hp
• Box (packed) size is 112 x 60 x 34 cm

 
As witth the very similar T20 Honwave model (see entry above) the Honda BF2.3 engine is recommended for this boat: due to lightness

Honda's Honwave boats are sold complete as "boat only", with the box set containing all the basics (all as is described above).

Honwave Wheels are, by far and away, the most popular optional accessory.
 
The Honwave genuine wheels kits allow one person to lift and manoevere their Honwave boat on dry land: thus making launching and recovery so much easier......One person can lift the boat by the bowline, and swing it,and roll it along any flat and solid surface. These optional wheels makes the whole launching process so much easier....after all, a boat is (mostly) designed to go on the water. These Honwave wheels easily clip-in and clip-out of the bracket; and thus can either be "flipped up" and kept on, or taken-off and stored inside the boat.
 
The Honwave wheels are designed for  all hard surfaces, such as concrete and tarmac, and will also work well on hard sandy beaches (but not in/on soft sand).
 
The Honwave launching procedure is very simple:

1. Take out the Honwave boat from its carry bag and just add air.
2. Clip in the wheels: then flip them downwards.
3. The outboard engine can then be fitted to the boat
4. Then, with the wheels down on land: roll into the water
5. Float your boat.....
6. Then, in the water, flip-up (or remove) the wheels. 
7. Flip-down the Honda outboard engine.
8. Then start your Honda engine: and off you toddle...
9. All in all, flipping simple......

The large diameter steel tube provides plenty of ground clearance: thus aiding manoeverability on dry land.
 
 
Initial Installtion of Honwave Boat Wheels: 
The Honwave wheels are fitted (normally by us) onto the transom of the Honwave boat.These are two brackets / sockets which are permenantly mounted to plates and bolts on the boat's transom.
Each wheel is permanently fitted to its own large stainless steel tube, which very-easily clips into the socket (approx. 10 seconds).
