
Since the UK and EU passed the Recreational Craft Directive - the RCD - over a decade ago: the sale and use of new two-stroke outboard engines has been banned for all recreational and leisure boat owners inside the Uk and EU.
However it is still legal for recreational and lesiure boat to own and to use older two-stroke outboard engines: those that were purchased before the legal deadine. This includes the continuing resale of used / preowned outboard engines
However it is still legal for Pennine Marine to sell new two-stroke outboard engines to certain classes of user and operator in the UK and EU, including:
- Commercial operators.
- Government and emergency services: ie fire brigades.
- Lifeboats and dedicated rescue boats.
- Racers.
It is also legal to sell to export markets internationally (except to USA and Canada).
