All new Honwave boats are sold complete, and thus immediately ready to use out on the water. The Honwave boat is essentailly sold as a "boxed set": which comes complete and ready to use. The Honwave box contains the compllete boat itself (note: both the tubes and the transom all fully fitted and connected together) the boat's floor (note: there are differences between various models and types of floor, please see below): the footpump, oars, a carry bag and a owners manual.
The Honwave boat does not have the outboard engine, trailer, etc, nor any optional boat accessories, clothing, lifejackets and insurance included in the advertised retail sale price. All these can be purchased separately.
Therefore to start using your Honwave boat ....because is an inflatable boat....... there is one last thhing you need to do. What you need to do is just simple = just add air:Obviously we are from Yorkshire: so new Honwave boat owners get two items of advice from us. To start using your new Honwave boat, all Honwave boat owners are recommended to use free air at all times. This is recommended, simply because us living up here in Yorkshire don't pay over our hard-earned pieces of silver for nowt - not unless we absolutely have to..... Therefore, If you look hard enough, you will always find a plentiful supply of free air to use, or borrow, to put into your new Honwave boat. Secondly we recommend that best-quality Yorkshire Fresh Air (frequently known by the three letter acronym "YFA") is always used in your new Hoinwave. boat. However, if you are travelling out to foreign parts, i.e. out beyond the county borders and into the sticks, then any other fresh air can be used in your new Honwave inflatable boat.
Honwave inflatable boats all conform to the technical requirements of the European Recreation Craft Directuve - the "RCD". The numbers of passengers carried in your new Honwave should not exceed the spectifued limit: please see the specifications listed below for each Honwave boat model.
All Honwave boat models (except the smallest two models) in the ten Honwave boat models are rated for Catagiry "C" use: so these eight Honwave models are all suitable for use on all inland waters, harbours and also for inshore sea use.
Please note that the two smallest models - the Honwave T24-IE2 and T20-SE2 - are only rated for Catagiry D use: so therefore these two are only suitable for use in inland waterways and sheltered harbours only.
Please note that the "loaded weight" (in kg) of the Hionwave boats (see the specifications for each model below) are well in excess of the passenger loading allowed by the RCD regulations. This is because, liike all inflatable boats, the Honwave's have an inherenty large safety factor for their bouyancy..

There are three different floor types offered on the Honwave boats:
Honwave Boats with Air Floors (Honwave model code IE)
These are twin bladders that roll up quickly and easily into the boat. Air-floored Honwave boats are high portable and therfore the boats are most suitable for most leisure applications requiring portability. Honwave model code "IE"
Honwave Boats with Aluminium Panel Floors Honwave (model code AE)
These are large sectional allumium floor panels - carried in a separate bag - that need to be clipped into the floor of the Honwave boat before use. The aluminium-floored Honwave boats are more durable and rigid however far less portable than the airfloors. Aluminium floored Honwave boats are most suitable for fishing and workboat applications: where a rigid floor is necessary. Honwave model code "AE".
Honwave Boats with Slatted Floors (Honwave model code SE)
Now only found on the two smallest models in the Honwave inflatable boat range: these slatted floors are "thin planks" positioned across the boat, that roll-up with the soft floor. Slatted floors are highly portable: however nowdays these models are frequently supersceded by the improved Honwave air-floor designs (see above). Honwave model code "SE".
Pleae note that these floors are "fixed" for each model of the Honwave the boat type - and therefore the floors are not interchangeable between different Hionwave boat models.

The Honwave T24-IE2 boat is, at 2.4m long, the smallest Honwave boat model which is available with the popular air floor.
The Honwave T24 is small boat which is ideally suited to being used as a tender for those short hops from a bigger boat to shore. The air floor on the Honwave T24 means it is both quickly and easily inflated. The small size of the Honwave T24 - both when it is packed and also when it is inflated - means it is easily stowed inside a boat locker or even left out on deck.. Finally the lightweight of the Honwave T24 boat means that it is easily man-handled over the side rails of larger boat.
However the small size of the Honwave T24 means that, whilst it is rated for carrying three adults, in our opinion two aduts is a more likley number of people to have on board the Honwave T24 - IE2 when it is being used as a tender.

The Honwave T24-IE2 inflatable boat is very well-matched to using either the Honda 4hp or the Honda 6hp outboard engine.
As they say in those long-running beer adverts, the Honwave T27- IE2 is "probably" the most popular model in the current Honwave fleet of inflatable boats.Indeed the 2.7m long inflatable boats are the most popular size - with all boaters and with all of the different manufacturers.
The Honwave T27 - IE2 is so popular simply because it is a good combination of size, being ideal as a family sized boat:, and also, wighting in at 34kg, it is easy to carry by one or two persons. The Honwave T27-IE2 it is therefore ideal as either a tender stowed on boat a bigger yacht or motorcruiser: or alternatively as a portable boat easily carried in the car, caravan and motorhome.

Please note that, whilst the Honwave T27-IE2 boat is rated as a boat safe to use with an 8hp outboard engine, we would however recommend pairing the Honda 6hp outboard engine to this 2.7m long boat. The 6hp outboard engine is a better match to the T27-IE2 for two reasons. Firstly because the 6hp engine is far more portable than the much heavier 8hp engine - and that extra 15kg of weight of the 8hp engine makes a big difference when you are carrying it (please see our Honda engine specifications for full details of these weights). Secondly, if truth be told, the "extra 2hp" power of the 8hp engine produces very little extra / better performance on this Honwave T27 boat. Therefore the 6hp Honda outboard engine is recommended by us - this being a clear case of smaler, lighter and nimbler being better (as a bloke called David once said to Goliath...)

Finally, and relevant to all true-born Yorkshiremen (and indeed true-bred Yorkshire women) is the simple fact that the 6hp Honda outboard engine is much better value for money: i.e. there is a substantial difference between the pricing of the Honda 6hp engine and the larger Honda 8hp outboard engine (see engine pricing for full details). Thus buying a Honda 6hp engine for the transom of the Hionwave T27-IE2 leaves you more brass in pocket......
The Hionwave T32-IE2 inflatable boat is a mid-sized family friendly inflatable boat: and one which is well-suited to either being used as a larger-sized tender, or as a family-sized boat for inland and inshore explorations. The capacity of four adults on the T32 is a number which is omfortably suited to this size of boat.
The Honwave T32 - IE2 boat technical specification is as follows;:
We thik that the Honwave T32-IE2 boat is welll-matched to the Honda 15hp outboard engine - i.e. the Honda BF15 model.
Please note that the Honwave T32 is not recommended by us for use with the smaller and lighter 6hp engine: as this small engine can be quite under-powered for this size of boat.
By way of an introduction - the Honwave T38- IE2 is "probably" the second most popular model in the current Honwave range of inflatable boats.The Honwave T38 - IE2 is so popular because it is a good combination of a big-sized family boat that will perform at speed. It is ideal as a family-sized performance boat because it can take a powerful 20hp engine. However at a carrying weight of 48kg, this Honwave T38 boat can still be carried in its bag by two persons. Also it will (just) fit into a car or 4x4 with the rear seats folded down.
Thus the air-floored Honwave T38-IE2 boat is thus one of the largest boats that is still capable of being accurately defined as having "maximum portability". The air floor means that it is quick and easy to unroll and inflate. When matched with a 20hp engine, the Honwave T38-IE2 with its V-shaped air- floor is therefore ideal as as a high -performance portable family sports boat With just a few people on board, the T38 will tow a inflatable toy at speed (note: towing eyes and ropes are required as optional accessories: as indeed , before we forget, is the inflatable toy itself....). The Honwave T38 is a highly-portable inflatable boat, one which is capable of being moved around the UK or Europe in the car, caravan and motorhome.

Please note that, whilst the Honwave T38-IE2 boat is rated as a inflatable boat which is safe to use with an 25hp outboard engine, this size is not recommended by us here in Yorkshire. We would however strongly recommend pairing the Honda 20hp outboard engine to this particular Honwave T38 (3.8m) long inflatable boat. The Honda 20 hp outboard engine is a much better match to the Honwave T38-IE2 boat for two key reasons. Firstly it is because the Honda 20hp engine is far more portable than the much heavier 25 or 30hp outboard engines. We shall explain: yes- adding that extra horsepower will give you more power - BUT (and it is a big but) - typically it will add about 30kg of weight to the all-up weight of the outboard engine. Thus the extra engine weight of any 25hp or 30hp engine is called one thing - "lardiness" . This extra weight of any big engine will make a very big difference when you are trying to carry it - if indeed you are even able to carry any modern 25hp engine.....
Frankly any engine heavier than 50kg is not defined by us as portable: and you need to note that all of the different manufacturer's 25hp and 30hp outboard engines are well over this "recommended portable engine weight" Secondly, and if truth be told, the "extra 5hp" power of the 25hp engine will in reality produce very little extra (if any) performance on this Honwave T38 boat. This is for the simple reason the extra weight weights down the back of the boat. Therefore the 20hp Honda outboard engine (BF20 model) is recommended by us for powering the Honwave T38 infltable boat. This is a clear case of smaller and lighter being far better. Thirdly, is the simple fact is that the 20hp Honda outboard engine is thousands of pounds cheaper to buy than any manufacturer's 25hp or 30hp outboard engine (see our separate outboard engine pricing for full details). Thus buying a Honda 20hp engine for fitting on the transom of your new Honwave T27 - IE2 inflatable boat will leave you more money to spend elsewhere...... The Honwave T25 -AE2 boat with the aluinium floor is well-suited to two niche markets. It is popular either as a small tender when one with a solid deck is necessary: or alternatively used as a lightweight one-man portable fishing boat. The Honwave T25-AE2 forfills both of these roles well.
The Honwave T25 - AE2 boat technical specification is as follows:
The Honwave T25 boat is well suited to using a Honda 4hp or 6hp outboard engine. However this boat is frequently seen with Honda BF2.3 fitted to the transom: for reasons of maximum engine lightness.
The Honwave T30 boat is well-suited to two popular boating applications: the family exploring market (often with dog) and also the smaller fishnng boat, this being suitable fir jsut two persons.
The Honwave T30-AE2 boat technical specification is as follows
The Honwave T30-AE2 boat is well-suited to the Honda 15hp outbiard engine: i.e. the Honda BF15 model.
The Honwave T35-IE2 boat is the most popular, and best loved, of the Honwave aluminium floored boats.
The Honwave T35 is ideally suited, by virtue of both its size and weight, to the recreational fishing market. It has generously-sized open deck and the aluminium floor panels means it is safe and stable platform for two or three fishermen to fish from. Whilst the Honwave T35 boat itself is quite heavy at 73kg, itself an indication of the boat's good build quality, it can however be "split" into its two carry bags. These two bags make the Honwave T35 far more easily managed, ie when carried separately.
This boat was originally introduced by Honda to be a direct competitor to the ever-popular Zodiac cadet 350 solid floor: one of the best sellers of its era.
The Honwave T35 -AE2 boat technical specification is as follows:
The Honwave T35-AE2 boat is ideally suited to using either of the two mid-range Honda 15hp/20hp outboard engines: i.e. either the Honda BF15 or the Honda BF20.
By far an away the heaviest boat in the whole Honwave boat range, the Honwave T40-AE2 model weighs-in at a total of 86kg (note: boat only weight and without the engine), so it needs to be carried by three or four people.
However, despite the boat's weight, the positive features of the Honwave T40 inflatable boat is one that has a huge internal deck area (note: the internal open deck dimensions are approx. 2.8m by 0.9m wide overall) and also, with the strong aluminium floor panels, this Honwave T40 boat has a huge load-carrying capability. Therefore, in our humble opinion, the Honwave T40-AE2 model is not really suitable to use as truely-portable family boat, simply because the average user and/or typical family (i.e. two adults with their 2 point 4 kids) will find it simply too large and especiailly too heavy to carry and move about.. The Honwave T40 boat is however well-suited to being either a fishing boat (note: probably best left permenantly inflated) or as lighter duty workboat.

Please note that, simply for portability, many of the Honave T40 boats are used with 20hp engines. A 30hp engine would require lifting on an off with a small hoist.
The Honwave T20 is the smallest boat in the Honwave range.
However - and lets be both honest and realistic here - the very small size of this Honwave T20-SE2 boat realistically means that the two adult capacity of this small boat is best described as "tight". The Honwave T20-SE2 is "tiny" and accordingly its small size frankly limits the practical use of the T20-SE2 to be a small and light tender that is very useful for short hops to and from the bigger boat to the shore.
The Honwave T20 is often seen with just one person in it: because the 27kg it takes one to launch, lift and recover it.
The Honwave T20 SE- 2 boat technical specification is as follows:
The Honwave T20 boat can be used with 4hp engine: however we would recommend it is paired up with the Hionda BF2.3 outboard: simply because of that engine's maximum lightness.
This Howave T25-SE2 boat is only slightly larger than its smaller sister: the T20-SE2 (please see entry directly above).
However the T25-SE2 has the big advantages over the entry level T20-SE2 in that it can carry three adults and also it is rated for inshore use and thirdly it is capable of carrying a 6hp engine (so this all means a faster transit time when heading back from a night out at the pub or taverna)..
However - and lets be honest and realistic here - the small size of this Honwave T25-SE2 boat realistically means that the three adult capacity would be described, by an honest estate agent, as "bijou" . Frankly space on board the Honwave T25-SE is "tight" (i.e. we think that you all need to be good friends) . Accordingly its size frankly limits the practical uses of the T25SE - however as a small tender it is very useful for very short hops to and from the bigger boat to the shore.

As witth the very similar T20 Honwave model (see entry above) the Honda BF2.3 engine is recommended for this boat: due to lightness
Honwave boats are all well-made and thus easily cleaned. We recommend regular but simple washing with water and/or a very mild detergent (note: nothing more aggressive) and less frequent cleaning witha good qulaity baot claener, such as August Race (sold here).
Honwave boats can either be sold separataely, as "boat only" OR are sold with a new Honda outboard engine.
